Last Saturday was first time out for my new tri ( built by Ian Sammis and ?improved? by myself ). The radio went out in the One Meter so I decided to assemble the tri. Went together fine, lots of comments about size and beauty. Fired up the radio and proceded to place it in the water. Light winds , but the tri took off WOW. Two tacks ( tacking is absolutely no problem ) and would like to fuss with sail settings, full starboard rudder and nothing happens, full port and nothing happens. Stupid Clyde has to climb into the retrieve boat ( Cute paddle boat ) and act like a bicycle rider across the pond because the tri is already on the opposite shore ( that happened really fast ). As I am pedaling I am trying to figure what went wrong, worked perfectly in the basement at home. Then I realized the antenna was the same as on my One Meter, miniature physically attached to the receiver. Dummy, the carbon of the hull was not allowing the signal in. Just finished the redesign and assembly and had to let everyone know to range test their radio system. Clyde (stupid)

Hope to be back at mine before winter ! Congrats on a great first sail (ummmm - except for the "runaway !) Hey - maybe a good name for it

Clyde Great news about the new boat! Congratulations & I look forward to be the pix. Don't be too hard on yourself about the antennae problem, I'm sure the excitement of getting it out the 1st time was the cause. It reminds me of a landsailing buddy made a beautiful carbon hull ( www.baycityrclandsailors.com/id18.html ) designed to accomodate a GPS for speed trial documentation, only to discover that the GPS couldn't receive the satelite signals.
