Here is a hull design I am contemplating. Based on the latest in C Class big boats, it results in wetted surface, but less displacement - especially if an ultra-lite build is done.

Looks nice, but a little fat in my opinion. (not that its a very learned one ) I'd probably make it a little skinnier down the back end, maybe taper the last two bulkheads and the stern. It looks like it'll put most of the weight of the boat on the second and third bulkhead from the rear (not counting the stern). If you taper the stern a little, it'll put maximum bouyancy at around the third and fourth bulkheads from the rear but the weight will be spread across the whole back end leaving the front to do nothing but split the waves. It'll sit with the bows just out of the water but the result should be a little more resistant to nosediving when its driving hard. The new A-Class Catamaran wave piercing designs (flyer) sail most of the time with their bows out and use their very low volume bows to split the waves for the rest of the boat. Then again, it looks like a nice design. Can't wait to see it.! ;D
